Green Day Saves Christmas!
Unfortunately, one of the members of Jane’s
Addiction had an emergency family situation. The band is not able
to play tonight’s show as scheduled.
NEVER FEAR! Local heroes Green Day are here to save the day!
That’s right… Billie Joe, Tre Cool and Mike will be hitting the
stage tonight at NSSN 2011! Who’s excited!?!
The San Francisco-based radio station was informed
at roughly 8:30 a.m., day of show, of Jane's Addiction's decision
not to perform. Organizers immediately reached out to Green Day,
but didn't receive confirmation until 5 p.m. that the band would
play the gig.
That had to make for some tense hours -- given that the concert
was set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
It could've been a fiasco, but instead Not So Silent Night 2011
will be remembered as a triumph.
Green Day, which has reportedly been working on new songs in the
studio, was masterful in a short set that focused most strongly on
early material. Initially, it was thought the band would play its
blockbuster major-label debut, 1994's "Dookie," in its entirety.
That didn't happen, although the group did perform all the big "Dookie"
hits.
