HISS
2004 Tour
As the supporting act
for the Ravonettes, The Hiss played The El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on April
6th. The lights dimmed and the
drummer, Todd Galpin, kicked into a beat, then from behind the stage climbed the
rest of The Hiss. Lead singer and guitarist Adrian Barrera
screamed the opening tune into his guitar, setting a mood for the rest of the
set. There was very little stage patter between songs such as
Brass Tacks, Clever Kicks, and Back On The Radio. The Hiss’s sound is
unique yet firmly rooted in classic rock, with songs you can sing the chorus to
half way through your first time hearing them, like you’ve known these songs for
years. After tearing through their 40 minute set
the band simply walked off stage, leaving their guitars on the stage with the
amps humming, leaving the crowd wanting more.
